The Last U.S. Solar Eclipse For A Long Time

What can I write about the total solar eclipse that would be worth reading? People are generally divided into two camps: Those who have seen a total solar eclipse, and I do mean TOTAL, and those that haven’t.

In school we would go out with our pinholes and see the solar eclipse on the ground. The only time you’ll ever see a crescent sun. These days we have the solar eclipse glasses so that we can look directly at the sun to see its crescent shape during a partial solar eclipse or leading up to a total solar eclipse. I can tell you from personal experience seeing a total solar eclipse that it is absolutely nothing like a partial solar eclipse. Nothing. But I know you’ve heard that. And you just don’t care. What’s the big deal?

The big deal is that seeing a total solar eclipse is probably second to seeing a big tornado up close, without the real danger. But it certainly feels like real danger. Maybe a total solar eclipse comes first on the list of real-life spectacles you can possibly witness, though I had never seen a tornado up close and wouldn’t want to.

I am posting a video I created and one that my wife created during the eclipse so you can see. Although I feel that if you’ve never seen one before you don’t care, and if you have you probably have your own pictures.
